I heard of the book and Sapphire, but I only glanced at it. I saw the movie a few weeks ago. I noticed that the darker-skinned women were either the "victims" or the "evil" ones while the light skinned ladies were the "rescuers".
Aside from that, I thought the actress playing Precious was adorable, and did her part very well. I wouldn't want to watch it again, some parts were so intense, broke my heart.

See! That's why I said I needed to see it again. You're absolutely right. Dang! I don't really trip of light skin vs dark skin but I realize those issues still exist in the world.
I loved Gabby Sidibe - she is awesome! I felt the beauty of her spirit immediately.
